Secrets of the Baby Whisperer,

How to calm, connect and communicate with your baby

By Tracy Hogg with Melinda Blau

Secrets of the Baby WhispererI am certain that "The Baby Whisperer" needs no introduction to many parents. She is now famous for her down to earth advice on understanding the language of babies and how to interpret their needs, and use this to make parenting a lot easier. Her books have been sell outs in New Zealand and overseas.

Tracy Hogg trained as a nurse in England, who specialized in maternity and neonatal care. She knows babies, understanding their language and using this to calm even the most distressed of difficult child. She has an incredible sensitivity and ability to read the coos and cries of infants, and she quickly gained an international reputation as "The Baby Whisperer". In 1997, she founded Baby Technique, a consultancy service for parents and caregivers. She now lives in Los Angeles, and has been called upon by celebrities to advise them on baby care.

In this book, she offers down-to-earth wisdom, which often flies in the face of "conventional truths". The book promises parents not only a happier, healthier baby but a more relaxed household as well. She teaches parents how to work out what sort of baby they have, what kind of parent they are, and what kind of parenting plan will work best for them. She has a "know your baby quiz" which helps parents determine their baby's needs and show parents how to teach babies to sleep. She believes that babies should become part of the family, rather than dominate it, and offers practical steps for a happy household that works from infants as young as a day old.

There is also practical advice on; feeding, bathing, child proofing, toy-buying, and choosing a carer.

"One of the most common questions asked by prospective parents is 'What books do you recommend we obtain for guidance". My dilemma has never been with the choice of a medically based text, but rather with a solid volume presenting practical, simple and yet individualized advice about early infant behaviour and development. Now my dilemma is solved. Enjoy." Jeanette J Levenstein, Attending Paediatrician at Cedars Sinai Medical Centre. California.

Secrets of The Baby Whisperer for Toddlers,
How to calm, control and enjoy your toddler

By Tracy Hogg with Melinda Blau

Secrets of the Baby Whisperer for ToddlersThose who are past the baby stage and into the "terrible twos" (or twos, threes and fours, as the case may be), can be comforted that The Baby Whisperer has though of them also.

After helping new parents in her best selling "Secrets of the Baby Whisperer" (see above), Tracy Hogg has written a new bible for those who've made it through the first year and now have a delightful, but demanding toddler.

These are challenging years, and The Baby Whisperer offers you the reassurance that you will not only survive them (sanity intact), but can come through them with a happy, independent and well-adjusted child.

THE SECRETS OF THE BABY WHISPERER FOR TODDLERS includes;

  • an explanation of her easy system for communicating with toddlers-talk, listen, clarify
  • a "know-your-toddler" quiz, which helps tailor her advice for your individual child's needs
  • advice on "typical" toddler issues, such as; discipline, socializing, toilet training, and creating a safe environment for your toddler.

Here are four basic principles from her introductory notes on the book

"The foundation of good parenting;

  • each child is an individual
  • each child deserves respect and must learn to respect others
  • take the time to observe, listen, and talk with children, not at them
  • each child needs a structured routine, which gives his life predictability and safety."

You will find discussion on this, and so much more in even just the first few pages of the book. A must for any parent of a toddler who values both their sanity and their developing relationship with their toddler.
