How can this be?? Let's take a closer look at each function and how THE POd works.

REAR FACING CAR SEAT
THE POd is a great rear facing car seat. The luxury padded seat cover and gentle slope of THE POd makes it ideal for this use. In addition, there is a curved padded head support which offers extra support and can be easily removed as baby grows. THE POd is quickly and easily secured into place using the normal car seat belt, and the lower seat belt guide which is found in the frame. A seat belt locking clip is included in the package for additional security. The five-point harness has a central A-lock system at the leg position. The readily accessible adjustment slide can be quickly locked at the ideal tension for your child and allows for simple adjustment as they grow. A chest clip comes standard with the package.

THE POd has been approved by normal safety standards to be safe for rear facing use. Infants between 2.3kg and 9.1kg and less than 1 year must by law be rear facing. In addition, it is good practice to have toddlers in the rear facing position for as long as possible, to for additional development especially of the neck structures. Toddlers can stay in THE POd in the rear facing position well over 12 months of age, until they reach 13.6kg.

Please note; that as with any other rear facing car seat, THE POd must not be used in the front seat if there are dual airbags in the vehicle. In addition, you will notice that the lower recommended weight limit for THE POd of 2.3kg. This is because the manufacturers recommend professional advice for babies under this weight before any restraint is used, to ensure safety.

FORWARD FACING CAR SEAT
As your toddler outgrows the rear facing position, THE POd can be easily converted into a forward facing seat, simply by turning it around and placing the car seat belt through the upper seat belt guide. Again, the seat belt locking clip can be used for additional security. You may use the forward facing position after your toddler is over 9.1kg and one year of age, however, as stated above, we recommend that your toddler remains in the rear facing position as long as possible for increased safety. (This is good general advice for any car seat). Once your toddler is over 13.6kg, they must be placed in the forward facing position.

As your toddler grows in size, the additional head suport can be removed to allow more space inside the seat. The five-point harness has adjustable shoulder positions which are quickly and easily changed, to adapt for higher shoulder positioning of your child, and the lower adjustment allows for general size increases which a simple lift of the locking lever. THE POd can be used in the forward facing position until your toddler is over 18kg in weight, and then they should be moved into a traditional booster seat.

As well as the five point harness, seat belt guides and seat belt locking clip, THE POd comes with a top tether strap which reduces the possibility of serious head and neck injury in the event of a crash. Most vehicles come equipped with a top tether anchor point, or conversion kits are readily available through Plunket or car stores. THE POd also comes with the option of using the latch lower anchor points (ISOFIX). These use included belts which attach directly to the cars metal frame at anchor points to be found in the seat crease at the rear seat back. These anchor points are now included in new model vehicles and will become the minimum standard for car seat attachment in the future. As you can see, safety is a priority with THE POd, and you will have the most advanced safety accessories available, as standard with your package.

A STROLLER
Now here's the exciting bit about THE POd. With a simply pull of a handle, your car seat will convert to a quality stroller. As for all of its other functions, THE POd has carefully been designed for maximum safety, comfort and ease. The conversion from car seat to stroller is so simple it really needs to be seen to be believed. The seat has luxury padding to make it comfortable for sitting, and the neck bolster offers curved neck support for younger children.

THE POD converts easily to a stroller) The stroller feels very lightweight and manouverable. THE POd torsional suspension activates when it is in stroller mode making the ride extremely smooth for your child. There are foot activated rear brakes and high density wheels which are fixed double at the rear and single swivel at the front. The stroller handles have adjustable height positions for user comfort. All of these features combine to create a product that is easily used by parents and caregivers and comfortable for your child.

The possibilities for this product are endless. For example, if you are travelling around the country, instead of packing a car seat AND a stroller, you can save boot space by owning THE POd. When you need a stroller, it is there, waiting for you in the back seat. Even for trips around town, you may select to use just THE POd instead of carrying a stroller in the boot.

FAA APPROVED FLIGHT SEAT
THE POd has been approved by the FAA for use as a flight seat for infants and toddlers. This means, that should you be travelling, you can take your car seat on to the plane, and use it to comfortably restrain your infant or child, and then have it available as a car seat from the airport. THE POd only weighs 9.5kg and is easily carried onto planes.

If you are travelling by plane, this product provides the ultimate in ease and convenience for a parent. You drive to the airport with your child in their car seat. Next, you open THE POd up, and it becomes a stroller to take your child into the airport. Because it is approved for use on the plane as a safety seat, you can keep your child in the stroller all the way to the plane. Other strollers must be checked in as luggage at the check in counter. Imagine' no more shuffling toddlers on your hip, along with hand luggage and passports!! Once on the plane, THE POd converts to the flight seat. At the journeys end, you will once again have a stroller to use in the airport, and you have a ready made car seat to leave the airport with. Of course, both car seat and stroller will now be available for use for the holiday itself, saving you having to hire them or check them in as luggage. Once again, not having to carry a separate stroller in the boot, will be an absolute space saver for holidays.

THE POd has full safety approval in New Zealand and all major international countries for all of these uses, meeting or exceeding the safety standards needed to qualify for the "S" mark. The safety of your child was the primary design consideration, and it has undergone extensive testing, including a variety of crash tests.

It comes complete with; five-point harness, seat belt locking clip, harness clip, rear tether strap, lower latch attachment belts (for new model car use), luxury padded seat cover, neck bolster for younger children.

The frame is silver and black in colour, and all padding is navy. The seat cover and bolster are easily removed for washing.
